First Baptist Church of Sistersville, WV, is a Bible based, mission minded church. We are located in the beautiful, Ohio valley area of Tyler county in wild, wonderful West Virginia.
First Baptist Church of Sistersville is an exciting place to connect with others on the journey of seeking their purpose in life. It’s a home for the whole family to learn about God in a way that is not only practical but life changing. We are serious about the Bible and the truths that are found in it but we also like to laugh, cry and experience life together as God intended.
Paul wrote to the Romans: “In Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” What is this? It’s a family! So what does the FBC family look like? We are a multigenerational group, celebrating the diversity of our lives together. Young, not so young, married, single, widowed, divorced, different economic circumstances; all facets of life are represented in our family. And you don't even need to dress up.
Here at FBC we seek to grow closer to God through study of the Bible, worship and prayer but also apply what we’ve learned to our day to day lives in a practical way. But it’s not just about us; we’re also enthusiastic about reaching the community and world around us with the Good News of life in Jesus Christ. Are we perfect? No, far from it. But we know who is and it is He who we strive to not only imitate but to draw closer too.
Live as Citizens of Heaven
Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.
